ReigniteMarket is a Canadian online classifieds platform connecting buyers and sellers of hunting, outdoor, and related gear — operating similarly to a private marketplace. We are committed to full compliance with all applicable Canadian federal and provincial laws, including the Firearms Act, the Criminal Code of Canada, the Explosives Act, and all regulations under the Canadian Firearms Program (CFP) administered by the RCMP.
Our core principle: Every listing, transaction, and interaction on ReigniteMarket must be 100% legal. We do not facilitate, broker, or handle any transfers ourselves — we are strictly a platform for advertisements and direct buyer-seller communication. All users are solely responsible for complying with the law.
These policies apply to all users (sellers and buyers). By using ReigniteMarket, you agree to them. Violations may result in listing removal, account suspension, or permanent ban. We report illegal activity to law enforcement when required.
1. User Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and post listings (or 12+ with parental consent and proper licensing where applicable for certain items).
- You must be a resident of Canada.
- For any firearms-related activity, you must hold a valid Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) where required by law.
- Businesses must comply with all licensing requirements (e.g., Firearms Business Licence if applicable).
2. Prohibited Items and Activities (Zero Tolerance)
The following are strictly banned and will be removed immediately:
- Restricted or prohibited firearms (including handguns under the national handgun freeze, assault-style firearms prohibited under Orders in Council, fully automatic weapons, converted firearms, etc.).
- Prohibited devices under the Criminal Code (e.g., high-capacity magazines over legal limits, silencers/suppressors without proper authorization, certain firearm parts or accessories that convert a firearm to prohibited status).
- Prohibited weapons (e.g., switchblade knives, gravity knives, butterfly knives, spiked knuckles, nunchakus, push daggers, etc.).
- Any firearm or weapon that requires a prohibited-class licence.
- Stolen, counterfeit, or illegally obtained items.
- Ammunition or components that are prohibited (e.g., certain explosive or armour-piercing types).
- Explosives, fireworks, or large quantities of propellant powders beyond legal private limits.
- Drugs, drug paraphernalia, tobacco, alcohol (where prohibited), live animals, human remains, or body parts.
- Any item that violates Canadian export/import laws or promotes illegal activity (e.g., instructions for illegal modifications).
- Listings that imply or encourage bypassing licensing, background checks, or transfer rules.
Cross-border sales: International sales are prohibited unless all export/import permits (e.g., from Global Affairs Canada and the destination country) are obtained and clearly disclosed. We strongly discourage them.
3. Firearms Policy (Non-Restricted Only)
We allow listings for non-restricted firearms only (most standard hunting rifles and shotguns that are neither restricted nor prohibited — confirm classification via the RCMP CFP if unsure).
Seller Requirements:
- You must hold a valid PAL authorizing non-restricted firearms.
- In every listing, you must clearly state: “Seller has a valid PAL. Buyer must have a valid non-restricted PAL. All transfers will follow RCMP/CFP rules.”
- Before any physical transfer occurs, you (the seller) must obtain a reference number from the Registrar of Firearms via the CFP Individual Web Services portal (or by calling 1-800-731-4000). This confirms the buyer’s PAL is valid and eligible. The reference number is valid for 90 days (or the remaining licence validity).
- You must take reasonable steps to verify the buyer’s identity (e.g., compare photo on PAL, request secondary government-issued photo ID, or use video call).
Buyer Requirements:
- You must hold a valid non-restricted PAL.
- You must provide your PAL number, date of birth, and CFP-registered email to the seller so they can request the reference number.
Platform Rules:
- No listings for restricted/prohibited firearms or any that appear to circumvent rules.
- No “parts kits” or items that could be assembled into prohibited firearms.
- We do not verify PALs or reference numbers — that is the sole responsibility of the parties involved.
- Face-to-face transfers are strongly encouraged for safety. If shipping, both parties must ensure full compliance with transportation and mailing rules (non-restricted firearms may be shipped via approved carriers if properly packaged and declared).
Note: Non-restricted firearms do not require registration (except in Québec). However, the reference number process is mandatory for every transfer since 2022 updates.
4. Ammunition and Reloading Components Policy
- Ammunition (small arms cartridges) may be listed, but sales are restricted to buyers with a valid PAL.
- Sellers must only transfer ammunition to individuals who present a valid PAL (or minor’s licence where applicable).
- Private individuals may sell without an explosives licence if quantities are under 225 kg (net explosive mass, excluding packaging).
- List clearly: “Buyer must have valid PAL. PAL verification required.”
- Prohibited or restricted ammunition is banned.
- Reloading powders and primers follow the same Explosives Regulations limits and age/licensing rules.
5. Other Hunting and Outdoor Gear (Allowed with Restrictions)
The following are permitted provided they comply with all laws:
- Bows, crossbows, arrows, and archery equipment (no prohibited modifications).
- Hunting knives, fixed-blade knives, and multi-tools (no automatic or prohibited knives).
- Scopes, optics, slings, cases, cleaning kits, and non-firearm accessories.
- Hunting clothing, blinds, calls, decoys, and related gear.
- Air guns under 500 fps muzzle velocity or flintlock muzzle-loaders (no PAL required, but still follow age and safety rules).
- All items must be legal in the buyer’s province/territory.
6. Listing Requirements
All listings must:
- Include accurate photos of the actual item (no stock photos for used firearms or gear).
- Provide full, honest descriptions (make, model, calibre, condition, serial number for firearms where applicable).
- Disclose any known defects or modifications.
- Comply with the specific category rules above.
- Not include price gouging, spam, or misleading claims.
- Not solicit off-platform payments or communications that bypass safety rules.
7. Transaction and Safety Guidelines
- All transactions are private: ReigniteMarket is not involved in payment, shipping, or transfer. Use secure methods (e.g., e-transfer, certified mail for small items).
- Meet safely: Prefer public places (police stations are often recommended for firearms transfers). Never meet alone in isolated areas.
- Scam protection: Report suspicious buyers/sellers immediately. We do not endorse any third-party escrow services.
- Storage & Transport: Remind users to follow Storage, Display, Transportation and Handling of Firearms by Individuals Regulations.
- No warranties: All sales are “as-is” unless otherwise agreed in writing between parties.
8. Enforcement, Reporting, and Liability
- We actively monitor and remove violating listings.
- Repeated violations = account ban.
- We cooperate with law enforcement and the RCMP Canadian Firearms Program.
- Disclaimers: ReigniteMarket makes no representations about the legality, safety, or quality of any item. Users assume all risk and legal responsibility. We are not a licensed firearms dealer or business and do not perform transfers, verifications, or background checks.
- Questions about compliance? Contact the RCMP Canadian Firearms Program directly at 1-800-731-4000 or via their website (rcmp.ca/firearms).
By posting or responding to a listing on ReigniteMarket, you confirm you have read, understood, and agree to these policies and all applicable Canadian laws. Stay safe, hunt responsibly, and keep it legal.
